Do QR Codes Expire? Static and Dynamic Explained
Static QR codes have no expiration date set by QRWerk. The encoded information stays in the pattern, but a linked destination address may no longer be reachable later on.
What's Fixed With a Static Code
With a static QR code, the payload is directly contained in the pattern. In this version, QRWerk creates static codes for links, text, contact details, and other formats.
Why a Link Can Still Fail
A website can move, get deleted, require a login, or change its content. In that case the QR code still works technically, but the destination is no longer usable.
Redirects and Dynamic Services
Dynamic QR services usually point first to a redirect address. Whether and for how long that address keeps working depends on the specific service and contract. QRWerk doesn't offer dynamic redirects or statistics.
Maintaining Printed Codes
Retest important printed codes after changes to a website, ownership, or location. With a static destination, a new printout is needed if the payload needs to change.
